A Fascination with Patterns
I have always been fascinated by observing people — their intelligent behaviors and patterns. The human mind is the ultimate creation of intelligence and intellect. I am drawn to the patterns we consciously create and the ones that seem to run quietly beneath the surface of our lives, across what may be multiple dimensions of consciousness.
For more than twenty-eight years, my professional world has been technology. As a software engineer, architect, and technology leader, I have designed complex systems used by millions of people — including a $500M/year carrier-grade communication platform at Qualcomm and a compliance SaaS system at Amazon running at six-nines reliability. I have worked extensively with artificial intelligence, virtual and extended reality, and intelligent systems. That career taught me to recognize patterns, understand complex systems, and look beneath the surface when something is not working.
At the same time, another exploration has run throughout my life. My quest to understand human behaviors, sufferings, and limitations — and my ancient heritage — gave me early exposure to contemplative traditions: Siddha philosophy, meditation, and the ancient understanding that consciousness is not separate from the body or the world around it. Over the years, that curiosity deepened into a lifelong exploration of subconscious patterns, mind-body relationships, Jungian concepts, sound and consciousness, and the deeper questions of human experience, existence, and purpose.
Those questions eventually led me to hypnotherapy.
My training at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute gave me a practical framework for understanding something I had been exploring for years: conscious intention alone is often not enough to create lasting change. Eighty-eight percent of who we are — our habits, beliefs, emotional responses, and automatic reactions — lives in the subconscious mind. The conscious mind, with all its willpower and good intentions, controls only twelve percent. That single insight explained why so many of us try so hard to change and still feel stuck.
“We are trying to renovate a mansion from a tiny office at the front door, using nothing but a pen and good intentions. Hypnotherapy gives us the key to the rest of the building.”
I am a Certified Master Hypnotist (C.MH.), a professional member of the American Hypnosis Association, and a senior student in HMI’s 720-hour Clinical Hypnotherapy and Mind-Body Psychology program. I did not come to this work from a place of academic curiosity. I came because I experienced what it can do. This work is not just what I do for clients. It is how I stay clear, focused, and blissful under pressure, how I quiet the patterns that once ran me, and how I meet whatever comes with calm and confidence. It runs through all of it. And I stayed because I saw it work for others — quickly, gently, and in ways that willpower alone never could.
One of the principles I value most in the HMI approach is that people receive and process suggestions differently. Some respond naturally to direct, literal language — clear, confident instruction that the body accepts immediately. Others respond more strongly to inference, imagery, metaphor, and feeling. Most of us are a unique blend of both. That means hypnotherapy should not be one-size-fits-all.
My approach is structured, collaborative, do-good-no-harm, empathetic and non-judging, and highly individualized. In every first session, I take time to discover your specific suggestibility pattern through simple exercises — not tests you can pass or fail, but the key that unlocks the right language for your mind. Once I know how you receive information, every suggestion from that point forward is shaped around you. The person does not need to adapt to the method. The method adapts to the person.
The Name VRishi
The name VRishi reflects another important part of my journey. "Rishi" comes from the ancient Sanskrit tradition of seekers and sages who explored consciousness through deep inner observation. "VR" reflects my background in technology and my exploration of how immersive experiences may expand what is possible in hypnotherapy.
For me, these worlds do not need to compete. Ancient contemplative traditions have explored consciousness and human experience for thousands of years. Psychology and hypnotherapy provide practical frameworks for understanding patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior. Science and emerging technologies give us increasingly sophisticated tools with which to investigate and experience these questions.
My personal interests in spirituality, consciousness, and cosmology inform my curiosity about the human experience, but they are not beliefs a client needs to share. I welcome people from different backgrounds, philosophies, and belief systems. The work begins with the client's goals and their individual experience.
Whatever technologies emerge next, one principle will remain at the center of my practice: the person comes first. Technology should amplify human potential, never replace the human connection at the heart of meaningful change.
“Lasting transformation is not about becoming someone else. It is about developing greater awareness of the patterns within us and learning how to consciously participate in our own change.”
Areas of Focus
Some goals may require work in coordination with a licensed physician, dentist, or psychologist through referral, where applicable. Hypnotherapists are not licensed by the state as healing arts practitioners.

30 Years of Systems Thinking
Before hypnotherapy, Jithendran built some of the most demanding technology systems in the world. That career taught him one profound truth: the most complex system is not software — it is the human mind.
